WOYWW 377 - the late at night one

So here I am.

Late to the party as always, but I least I showed up.  Just in time to bring the tequila and liven the show up. LOL  Or not as the case may be - hand me my crochet and cocoa, will ya?

So, today is all about WOYWW.  What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Nearly Thursday here.  Hehehe.  Thank you, lovely Mrs Dunnit, for hosting as always....

My desk is a complete and utter tip.  The nice thing about night time photos is you can see the reflection of the other wall in the window!  Hehe.  Can't see me though!!!

There's actually some makings on it for a change.  A quick stamped piece of a different variety - ye olde metal stamping - which is heading up to Lancaster to be included in a wedding gift for someone.  I'm not very good at it though.  More practice would help, I'm sure.  I need a decent stamping post I think.

So, short and sweet this week as I'm a late-comer.  Off on the hop now, to say hello to a few of you.

A clear out....

.....of the digital kind.

So no, I've not gone mad and had a stash trash or a clutter clearance.  No.  I've come in here, looked through my blog reading list, and had an unfollow session - clearing more than half my list and deleting a grand total of 36 blogs.

What on earth happened to everyone?  All the blogs I've unfollowed have stopped running.  There last post was a year ago or more.  And not a word as to why...

I know I'm pretty bad at blogging regularly, but only one or two of those blogs had folks that had popped on to say "Sorry guys, last post here".  It does worry me that some of our blogging buddies may have met with unfortunate ends.  With that in mind, I'm going to make sure that beloved Mr B knows my logins and can at least get in here and advise you all of my demise, should that be the case.  Two or three blogs had been hijacked by spammers, judging by the content!

It has made me a little more determined to keep up with my blogging, which is why I'm sat here now typing away.  Can't be leaving folks without something to read!

And suggestions please, of new blogs to start following.... always welcome!

The Present List

I've not been very good at blogging this last year or so.  I'm not sure what's happened, to be honest.  Life seems to have taken over, and not in a good way.  I seem to be busy without actually getting anything done and a big chunk of that seems to involve social media.  Maybe it's time to disengage from certain sites more and concentrate on what makes me happiest.  I've got some real, proper busy times ahead (Panto!  Hare Moon Crafts!  CIPD!) and there is no time to waste now.  I also miss this space.  My own little domain.  My place for expressing myself and showing myself off from time to time.  For saving some of the fun stuff.  My own little legacy in the world.

 

So.

 

Lets try and get back to it.  Turn this blogging lark back into a habit.

Listening to.... Debs in 'Druth on her radio show.... luv ya hunny. Thank you for the shout out.

Reading.... Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir - fab historical fiction - I have learned so much more about Lady Jane Grey and the whole 9 day queen debacle.  Ms Weir does a brilliant job of weaving together fact and fiction to make a good read.

Watching.... not much.  Saw The Cell a couple of nights ago, awesome film.  Have been dipping into "Under The Dome" lately and need to get back to it. 
Drinking..... squash - Cherries and Berries flavour.  My caffeine intake has significantly reduced these days.
Eating... Home prepped Ham & Cheese salad with black olives.
Liking.... the new me.  I've lost 30lb in the last 15 months and I'm looking forward to losing more.
Hating... losing control of my eating, the days I need to binge.
Being grateful for..... my amazing 85 year old mother, we've just had her staying for the weekend and she was awesome as always.  Brought with her extra crocheted granny squares for Lil Miss B's blanket, so it could be made longer.
Wishing.... for better time management skills....

WOYWW 368 - welcome to the jungle...

So, another round of WOYWW has hit our desks, and frankly it finds me sat in the corner sucking my thumb, feeling distinctly non-creative.  However, that’s no reason not to join in, so here I am in the hope that joining in the blog hop as instigated by our lovely Julia Dunnit, and currently hosted by the equally lovely LLJ, will give me some much needed oomph in the creative mojo department.

 

Mind you, part of the problem may be down to the state of the craft room.  I can’t get any mojo to tidy it either, and it’s not like I don’t have a zillion things to do.  Like some cushion covers.  And lots of cards.  And some embroidery.  And a makeup bag.  I’m going to stop there before I overwhelm myself completely.  One step at a time.  Tidy the room.

Not that it’s been quiet around here, oh no.  Last Friday saw Lil Miss B’s last ever day at secondary school, with her going in to take her last GCSE (Physics, yuk, to quote she), so I grabbed a quick snap.  I’m not sure where the time has gone.  I did look down the back of the sofa for it but all I found was 3p, a couple of mouldy peanuts and an elastic band.

Friday night and Saturday saw me in attendance at Salisbury Cathedral where I joined the Salisbury Musical Society (such a mis-nomer, it always conjures up an image of smiling faces and docidoh-ing while singin “OHHHHHHHH! Klahoma! Where the wind...”!)  to perform Mozart’s Vespers and Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man – a Mass for Peace.  An absolutely brilliant evening, the acoustics, as you would expect, were amazing and the soloists superb.  It was fun, but I’m not in any rush to join them permanently, as it will soon be panto season.... don’t start, you lot!.... and my Tuesday evenings will be taken up with other rehearsals and meetings and so on and so forth.

 It wasn't without trouble - the Friday evening rehearsal saw the fire alarms going off with us all being kicked out of the cathedral - cue arrival of fit firemen.  But as I posted on FB in the week who ever would have thought that I'd get a photo of the Cathedral with a fire engine AND a cello! 

 

 

 

Lastly, t’was our 3^rd wedding anniversary yesterday and hubster sent me this fantastic bouquet of flowers to commemorate the occasion.  He also bought me a very lovely Pandora charm.  Awww...

 

So that’s it for this week.  I will endeavour to visit as many of you as I can.  I’m aware there’s a couple of you wanting ATCs from me – we seem to be having a problem getting emails back and forth for addresses, but I do have a couple of spares if anyone wants to boost their collection at all!

WOYWW 365 - the 7th Anniversary one.

Hello deskers!  We're at it again!  Another desk view (pretty much the same as last week in fact) and a chance to sign up for an ATC swap to celebrate the 7th Anniversary of this wonderous blog hop we call home. Albeit a messily creative one.  Thank you, Julia, for starting this crazy adventure for us all, and becoming our friend in so many ways, and being an enabler that's made friends of all of us.  I hope you are well on the road to recovery.... And thank you LLJ for being the star you are!

I will be swapping ATCs - I'm out at crop tonight making mine and I'm happy to swap with more folks than just the one following me.... Let me know if you're interested!  I'm going to make about a dozen but can easily do more....

I have had such a busy day - I took photos this morning to post this, and here I am at 19:11 frantically typing up today's post as I should be out and about again by now.  So much for sneakily doing it at work today!

My desk, as you can see, is pretty dull.. .  The second desk however, has the in-progress makings of a rather lovely card on it.  I can't lay claim to this one.  This is all Lil Miss B's handiwork.  Unfortunately, it's actually my birthday card, she hasn't quite got the hang of this subterfuge lark and forgets to tidy away secretive stuff.  Doh!

Isn't it lovely?  Shadow stamping, and metallics, and card candy.  She's got the hang of the less is more approach, and she does make me quite proud with what she can turn out.  sigh...

I remembered to take a picture of the good luck card from last week though!

WOYWW 363

Hello there! It's another week and another chance to joining WOYWW, although some of you could be forgiven for wondering who on earth I am I'm here so rarely!

In the spirit of keeping things going and making sure numbers don't fall for the next couple of weeks I will definitely be joining in while Julia has her operation and helping to support Jan in her Linky endeavours. I'm not sure why I have such a struggle to join in these days, but it might just be that we are insanely busy. I've joined fortnightly crop and a monthly crop, and I'm rehearsing singing with Salisbury Musical Society for a concert in mid June at the Cathedral - more on that at a later date. We're also gearing up for the next panto again already. Oh yes we are!

My desk this week is showing the signs of a post cardmaking session. I don't get much opportunity or time to sit and make cards but on this occasion it was necessary as Lil Miss B has started her GCSEs and I couldn't let the occasion pass without making her a good luck card. I also made one to match for her best friend. Stupidly enough, I forgot to take a photograph.

Mr B has also been busy sat next to me, with his soldering tools. Aside from making some adjustments to a lampshade, he has been helping me with a special order for the business.

Et voilà!

Hare Moon Crafts had an order for a pair of cufflinks with a little girls fingerprints in, for her daddy for his wedding day. The bride collected them last weekend and was delighted! I'm so pleased and although I know they won't see this I wish them well in their future life.

WOYWW 353

Hello again everybody! Here we are again for another round of WOYWW. Courtesy of the fabulous Miss Dunnit of course!

I present to you today my workspace. As usual. Tidy, but not tidy. What you see here, is the result of tidying up after a craftermath.


I had a sudden blitz, after making this card for my new nephew. It's taken me a while to get around to it, but I finally settled on a design I liked and made it. Of course, I didn't actually have the dies in my collection, so I had to go out and buy them. For "go out and buy", read "visit eBay". LOL. Mind you, I did actually surf the web looking for local stores that might have stocked them, as it's always better to buy local, but unluckily nobody had them.




In the spirit of Julia's desk this week, I thought I'd swing round to slightly and show you what's behind me (no it's not panto season again). As you can see it's a serried rank of drawers which contain all my rubber stamps, ribbons, card, background paper, and assorted other craft items. Plus on the shelves there is my big shot, and a myriad of other things to Numerous to mention - buttons , inks, you name it. Too much stuff to use in my lifetime, but I have reached the point these days where if Lil Miss B comes up to me and says "Mum, have you got…", I can usually provide!


The other work that is being done this week is to finish off the knitting that I have been doing. It seems to have taken for ever to finish this baby cardigan but I will share with you the picture once its done. I am now at the stage of sewing the sleeves in, and then I have to pick up the stitches to knit the band at the front and around the neck.

So that's it for this week - hopefully I'll have time to join you on the hop today.

WOYWW 352

I'm just scraping in under the wire here! I did a draft for the photos this morning and then got so busy at work and then out at a crop this evening that it's now 22:48pm and I'm only just joining in with WOYWW!

So here's my desk and what I've made this week. Not much, but it's something! A wedding card, inspiration courtesy of Pinterest ....

Nothing to report from the crop as I sat and knitted - my Great Nephew has arrived!

WOYWW #346

Good morning deskers! Happy WOYWW courtesy of the Buddster!  Yes, that lovely lady who links our litter....

There's very little to show today as were right in the middle of panto (silly season! Ha!) and I haven't done much.

We had a move around from Lil Miss B's bedroom to the craft room and back, basically swapping one of my Expedit units for a book case. The swap suits us both better....




The major arty crafty work was done at the weekend, for panto, but I can't share too much until next Wednesday! Can't give away surprises!










Lastly, Marley and Hamish want to say Hi. I snapped this photo this morning - Marley often drinks from Hamish's waterbowl but today Hamish sniffed at him and then looked up at Mr B, as if to say "Daaad?" Hehehe.

WOYWW 345

Another WOYWW slips into view and another round of desk sharing pops up on our feeds! Second one of the year already!

Mines a quickie this time as there's not much change and I've spent most of the week looking after Mr B following a little argument he had between a ladder and his little finger. Many of you have been following the tale in Facebook but suffice it to say here that he's ok and mending nicely.
