WOYWW 170 - When September comes....

.....and OMG it's here!  Where is the year going?
So here we are on WOYWW once more - head on over to Julia's to see the deets and add your desk to Mr Linky.
Not much has happened on my desk since last week's creative flurry.  I can show you a shot of the cross-stitch I've been working on though!

I also won something else - the relief at finally being told that 50% of my tummy troubles are down to a hernia, and yes it can be fixed.  BUT I'm probably going to need a hysterectomy too, so now it's up to the General and Gynaecological surgical teams to co-ordinate so that they can do both at the same time.  Me, I'm phylosophical about it all.  I'd rather have the next 20 years pain and worry free than keep a somewhat redundant womb that has failed to achieve it's target, and now never will, only to have it removed in 20 years time anyway.

So here's to health and fitness - however far off it may be.   LOL.

WOYWW 74 - at least I think it is!

Hi y'all!!!  Sorry.  Americanism.  Colonial sister-in-law.....

Well, I'm back in the land of the living, even if I'm somewhat zombiefied.  Mr Doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics and signed me off work for a further week with a "chest infection".  I'm typing this from the comfort of my desk at home.  Somewhat shocked, might I add, to see that it's 7.40am and there are ALREADY over 40 links on WOYWW.  Have to get up early these days to get in at #1!!!!

So here we are at another WOYWW - and for those who are unaware of what in the heck that is, go and visit Julia's Stamping Ground for more info.

On my desk this week we have.....

New rubber!

I still haven't done that CJ - woe is me! - but as I'm at home this week it will definitely be done today.  I've been too poorly to even think about crafting.  Anyway, the gorgeous stamps you can see come from Smeared Ink.  Some small ones on the left come from Xelacrafts.  I also won some blog candy but in my brain addled fug of memory I can't remember whose blog it was... sob.... but thank you very much to the lovely lady who sent them..... sob.....

Ok, I'm off.  Just a short blog from me this week.  I won't bore you with tales of the last fortnight, which include (but are not limited to) an hour in the dental chair followed by my crowns falling out three days later, after all the dentists are shut and 8 hours before we're due to leave(at 3am) for Blackpool. The sorry tale of me going on the Pepsi Max Big One and screaming myself completely hoarse that it was a full 10 mins before I could physically say a word....the Valhalla ride which got us so wet my Goddaughter POURED water out of her shoes.... The ensuing laryngitis.... the return visit to get my crowns put in.... Halloween where we all went out dressed up round a deserted village, only to find that all the kids were going round en masse, and we finally get to meet all our neighbours 5 months after moving in....

Nope, I'll save all those for another post - and will start the long blog hop to catch up on the doing of you guys - catch you around!

Yak.....

Not the wild beast.

Yak as in Yack. Yuck.  However you want to spell it.

Yak.

Why Yak?

I've been ill, hence the reason for not appearing in the most recent WOYWW list.  In fact, the reason for nothing at all for almost two weeks, no dancing, no panto, no blogging or surfing as such - nada.  I've been off work with what I suspect is a cold that developed into laryngitis (the Dr won't let me near him for some reason - wonder why?  LOL) compounded by coughing fits that make my stomach muscles cramp up, and then the next fit sends my back into spasm.  All in all I'm an all round wreck.
So Yak.

Normal service will resume shortly.

I hope.

At least Dr has agreed to see me today, so we'll hear what he has to say then.

WOYWW 67 - the pictoral version....

OK folks - I know you're going to be a little disappointed cos the *ahem, coff coff* description was SO good (rofl) that your imaginations ran a little wild.  I lied.  The CJ isn't on my desk at all.  Something else is though.... thanks Julia - it came today!!!!

And just because I love him, and I want to celebrate him being so great to me, for my own droolability (after all, t'is my blog)  here's a pic of the hunk himself, Mr B.  Taken on... nearly forget then!.... Sunday morning when we were on a soil sample collecting expedition to Cley Hill.  I know.  I lead such a glam existence!

Last item of news for tonight - I managed another 32 lengths tonight!  Woohoo!  I'm loving it!  If you don't know what I'm talking about, go here...

Ok - time for bed methinks!

Swim like a....

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but Mr B is a bit of a fish.  As is Lil Miss B.  They love to play in a pool, and whenever we go to an adults laned swim, Mr B always swims a whole mile.  (Which, as I have found out, is 64 lengths of a 25m pool)  They both dive.  And tumble turn.  Like I said, fish.

Now me - I'm not exactly known for my great prowess in the water.  I don't dive.  That would mean I would have to put my head underwater!!!!  I can't do that!  I swim with my head firmly on the surface, so water doesn't go up my nose.  I don't *do* flumes in a pool.  Tumble turns?  Hah!  Whaddya think I am, a mermaid???  At least, that WAS the case.  From the time Mr B and I hooked up, we went swimming.  Admittedly, for the first few months it was to fun pools with Lil Miss, and I paddled about in the water (need to add at this point that I can't do breaststroke, only front crawl, which apparently isn't actually that bad for style and grace!) looking on enviously.  I'd also not long quit smoking, so any physical exertion really told on my poor beleagured lungs, but I knew I needed to get more exercise and lose weight.... and so it went.  And he bought me goggles...

Then we moved in together, he got a leisure centre joint membership, and things changed.  Subversively.  In order to get the most of your membership, you need to go swimming twice a week, and do other stuff like the gym, or pilates (love pilates when the instructor knows what they're doing.  Sadly, the one at our LC doesn't... boo) etc.  And gradually things became.... different.

I'm not really competitive, but each week I've aimed to do a little better than the week before.  So imagine my surprise and delight when, last Wednesday, I managed to do......... *drum roll please* 32 lengths.  A whole half mile.  Mr B would wag his tail if he had one.  Except I still wasn't sticking my face in the water to swim.  Kinda cramps your style, if you'll pardon the pun.

Then on Saturday afternoon the one thing happened that made Mr B practically turn himself inside out with glee - I swam underwater!  Yup - you read it here first folks.  The fish is born.  It was like a switch being flipped, a lightbulb going on in my head.  I didn't want to get out of the pool.  Mr B was training Lil Miss to do racing dives, and I kept popping my head underwater to see how she was faring once in the water, and it just progressed from there.  Next thing you'll know, I'll be diving.

Watch this ripple......

PS.  Just want to sat thanks to Arlington VA Primary School for the use of the goggles pic!
