WOYWW #75 – the post-illness one.

Firstly, this week I’d like to welcome a couple of new followers - Debs H and Scrapcollectr - to my blog. You’re nutters, but most welcome nonetheless… ROFL.

Yay – last week I managed to get around EVERYONE – bar the one that linked herself straight back to the WOYWW page (LOL) and the one that had nothing against it (133, I think?). This is probably going to be a one-off – I was at home all week and was able to plug away, unlike a normal week! Health wise things are picking up around here – though I think it would be quicker if I could remember to take my antibiotics. Still a little muzzy/light headed though!

Another week has flown by and we are once again surfing the blogs of the world in the quest to share the state of our desk, all courtesy of our tour conductor extraordinaire, Ms Julia Dunnit. Visit her blog The Stamping Ground to find out more, and take yourself on a trip that will delight, amuse, inspire and occasionally dismay you. It’s a fab opportunity to be supportive, enjoy a good read and get/give tips amongst a new and amazing circle of friends we never knew were out there….

My desk this week – once again, little difference. There’s no CJ, for a start – read more about that HERE (huzzah, I say!). There’s a couple of little items there – some cheapo ribbon I picked up that just shouted Christmas Cards to me, a sheet of fab see-through stamps that fell into my basket on Friday, much to Julia’s Shopkeeper Gal’s amusement, and a little cross-stitch/beaded number (ok, to be exact, it’s a Mill Hill Charmed Mitten) that is needing a hanger attached so it can go on the Crimble Tree….

In my WOYWW easel you will also see my entry for this week’s Sketch Saturday – for a better pic and the Ingredients, go HERE.

Things are not going quite so well on the A Level front. Mojo in that area is almost non-existent. I know that being poorly hasn’t helped, but I’m finding the distance learning a real struggle, especially as I’ve only heard from my course tutor twice, and the second time I had to contact her! She doesn’t seem particularly interested in being supportive, if I was a course tutor and had an email from a student saying that they were struggling, I’d be on the phone to them, not send an email saying never mind, plenty of time, get your TMA (tutor marked assignments) in when you can and we’ll go from there. I shall be complaining to Oxford Open Learning. I hope to get my head back down to the studies this week, and maybe the light will dawn and I’ll understand what the heck is expected of me.

Still, enough moaning! Enjoy your surfing, hope to see you guys back round here soon!

Sorry you're still struggling health wise. I'd contact a different tutor if I were you, saying you could use some help because of ill health and ask who to contact for support. Doesn't hurt to spread the word a little!!!
Good luck!

Well done on making to everyone, I think I have only managed that once.

I know from my uni days the difference a supportive tutor can make and it's amazing how much they vary. I'm with you on this one - if I was a tutor I would want to support all my students and help them to do well.

Love your Christmassy ribbon - is that for cards or pressies?

Take care missus,
Ciara

Glad you are feeling better even if the study isn't - send that tutor a big sob story I say...It is great to study at a later age but I found you really need deadlines and to be held accountable to a certain degree. Hope you find a way...maybe the OOL has an on-line forum where you can exchange ideas and stuff with fellow students...
Yes - Me is almost 40 (sounds ominous) but being very small, having a younger hubby, no kids, hype energy levels, and a mad-cap attitude keeps me Peter pan like! Still look behind me when someone call me Mrs. Oh yes - that is me.
Snowflake stamps look great - a real bargain - who needs to fork out £25 for the latest trends???
Thanks for the visit - have a good weekend...celebrate still being in your 30s!

Not sure what it is but I could never go back to learning again, college, more Alevels etc., just don't have the frame of mind for it anymore! Hope you get your tutor sorted out. Love those Inkadinks! I'm a fan of their stamps!

I'm with Doone - sometimes a squeeky wheel is the only way. Meantime the desk looks great and glad you are on the road to recovery. Impressed with your completed visits last week! Never have been able to make it all the way round.

We made it to #2 this week! YAY!

What a shame about your tutor! I would say that motivation was the biggest one factor of distant learning and she should at least give you support when you are having difficulties and not just say... well, try and get some work done, you have plenty of time! :( Other than that, your desk looks very neat and tidy! Morti, what a lovely craft space. Sorry to hear you are still not totally better. Think I would certainly have a moan about the tutor. Thanks for sharing your workspace. Best wishes, Kym xxx (WOYWW No 35)

That is a really inviting area for crafting....great challenge entry too.
Glad you are on the mend. You'll catch up with the studies but make sure you do gain help even if it's not form that tutor. The college have a duty to provide it!

Glad you're improving; it's a slog. I can't imagine why you needed more stamps but I must concede, they're very nice! Apparently I missed you by about 20 minutes at the shop! Rats!

Did an OU access course a few years ago so know what you mean about distance learning. Sometimes you really need a bit of support especially when you haven't studied for a while. We're all here (if that's any help) and no doubt willing to chip in with ideas! Pam (24)

Really interesting desk - so know what you mean when the stamps just fell into your basket:) - and interesting comments on distance learning - been there, got the T-shirt and didn't get my degree - that way! Ended up going to a regular university because, at my advanced age, I learned/studied better with day-to-day interaction between tutors and fellow students. It's all personal preference and the bonus for me was I got to go to the States for a year to study which just would not have happened had I continued with the Open University:) Hope your tutor starts to take an interest - your paying after all. It's bad enough that I am running nearly a week late, then I have been plagued with that pesky 503 error all night. Just wanted to drop in and let you know I was here this week. I hope you are feeling better. It is no fun to have health issues.
