WOYWW 579 - except it's Thursday

Oops - missed yesterday.  Intent was there, even took the photo, but then forgot to post!  Doh. Some habits are hard to get back into but it will be there.

Not much has happened this week.  I've progressed somewhat on the Barn Owl cross stitch, and the back for Miss Bs jumper has been finished.  I've now got to work out how to do the sleeves, and connect all the parts together, but I'm more than halfway through and the end is in sight.
Here’s a view from my stitching “desk”:

Home-wise, the car has caused us a major headache - it needs a new radiator and is currently sitting mournfully outside the mechanic's, waiting for the new rad to be delivered and fitted.  Poor old girl - she's done us proud over the last five years, including driving all the way to Umbria and back last year.  I suspect she's protesting now!

Unfortunately the not inconsiderable cost of replacing the radiator means that our plans to go away for a medieval social event next month have had to be cancelled but we will make good use of the time off getting the house a little more sorted, and prepping for a proper event at month-end, when we go to Herstmonceux Castle.

A new phone also became top priority over the weekend but it does mean that Miss B gets my hand-me-down once we've replaced the battery.

That's it, really, in terms of news for this week.  Until next time!

Good job I've popped back. For once I was early doing the visits yesterday and then got caught up with other stuff but I'm here now. Sorry to hear about the car and hope you can get it fixed soon. The owl looks beautiful and can't wait to see it finished. Wishing you a very happy, belated woyww, Angela x15x

Hi Morti. Cars are expensive items! Hope the rad gets delivered soon and all is well again for travelling. I shall be putting as many miles on mine come Sunday as I have out on right through since March 18 when I filled up! Meeting up with my daughters will be special, though, and seeing the grandies. That cross stitch is going to look absolutely stunning when it is finished.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

We attended a medieval event at Herstmonceux a few years ago as my twin sister was taking part. She was playing a water carrier that day but is part of a music group and plays recorder. She was staying over in her tent too (complete with sheepskin rugs lol). Hope the radiator problem turns out to be less costly than thought. Stay safe and Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #1

I didn’t read that properly and had to go back. Now I see its a barn owl which is why it bears no resemblance to the Nightmare BC picture stuck to the top right of the frame!! Ha !! I couldn’t do cross stitch by the goth of one daylight lamp and the tv, blimey your eyes are still good. Sorry about your medieval social/new radiator choice, it was ever thus, huh. And perhaps in its own way, it’ll keep you safer at home, however well planned the social. And as you’re planning a return to Umbria, you need the car more than anything really!

That owl is coming along nicely. Hubby's car was due a new cam-belt recently - ouch!! he also had to renew his car insurance but because he is shielding and has hardly used it, they knock loads off for this year. Its worth asking. Have a great week - enjoy the new phone . Soojay #19
