WOYWW 600 - The Big Anniversary Edition

Welcome back to What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - the weekly blog hop hosted by our lovely Julia here.  Do go and have a look at the other busy desks and workstations being presented as part of the hop!

And what a hop it is today!  600 editions.  SIX HUNDRED.  A quick review of my blogging history and I'm embarrassed to admit that I've only been present for 165 of those 600, scattered across time, with my first WOYWW post being made on 12 August 2010 - WOYWW #62!  for those weeks I didn't join in, the WOYWW clan were never far from my thoughts though, I have to admit.  Time between posts sometimes flew, and I never realised how much time had passed until I sat down to blog again.

In that time I've remarried, and moved house 4 times too. Hopefully settled in my latest dwelling and looking forward to the next 600 WOYWWs (hehehehehe).

So a huge congrats to the great Mrs D and her wonderful hop, which has inspired and encouraged me, and given me some friendships which will last a lifetime and cross countries and continents!  Love you, lady.

On with the hop...

Today's desk is back to normal.  A mess.  Miss B has been staying for a few days as it's the only chance she'll have before Yule/the holidays to visit.  Some much needed R&R for her and a chance to catch a beat before the Xmas rush at work.  And get floof therapy.  So 'stuff' from around the house has been deposited in what is deemed the only free space... huh.

We also put the Christmas tree up, so that's another reason for my office/playroom becoming a dumping ground.

The blackwork is nearly caught up - I'm only a couple of weeks behind (three as of this morning) and I'm about ready to start on the border as well.  The Christmas Moose is also on the frame but not photographed.

On another frame is a spoon - this is from the Medicine Spoon Memorial - a planned art installation to memorialise the women persecuted and killed as part of the witch hunts. Do go and visit here for more info. I’m not yet decided on how I’m decorating my spoon but I’m sure it’ll involve needlework.

And that's it for the moment!  Short but sweet.  I'm working on some memorial jewellery for a friend - 5 pendants.  Sadly my friend lost her mother very early on in the first wave of Coronavirus, like so many people, and she wants some handwriting jewellery for herself, her two daughters and her nieces.  Must crack on with it and get them done before Christmas.

I am determined to get round everybody today, and hopefully we'll see a few familiar faces pop up and join in from back in the day - a reunion of sorts.  A virtual gathering is indeed planned - and when we can eventually meet up in person, t'will be a joyous occasion.

Happy WOYWW, Happy Hopping, and...

See you on the hop!

Happy 600! I can still remember the day you came over to my stall at the Burbage school fete! I think you might have been one of the first deskers I met in real life and here we are, all these years later xx. Love the tree and all your crafting, it’s no wonder your room is full of Life’s Stuff. The black work is beautiful my friend in New Zealand is also doing the challenge, they’re lovely!

Hi Morti, happy 600th WOYWW! I haven't been around for them all either. would be interesting if there is anyone who has done every one.. Love your blackwork, that is going to look stunning. Look forward to seeing what you do for your spoon! Happy WOYWW, have a lovely week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy xx #30

Don’t be embarrassed, the number of participations is absolutely not the point. let’s face it, if you’d been around for all 600, I’d have to share all the attention and I’m not sure that fits with my ‘all about me’ persona!!!😜
I totally know what you mean about using your room for erm, extra storage. This is what happens when you free up floor space! It’s always the same at Christmas, once the boxes of decorations have been emptied onto the tree etc, the empty boxes never make it up to the attic for storage! Loving the black work Morti, my word you are patient. And your eyesight, impressive!!

It was good to see your name again, Morti. So interesting how time seems to fly, regardless. Seems you had a good reason for not being around much. You have a beautiful tree and your craft space will straighten up once the holidays are over, I'm sure. Happy 600th from #6.

Hi Morti. 600th edition indeed - and what a group we are! Spread across the world, some new, some older folks. Some there each week, some not for so many reasons. WOW! And all thanks to Julia for thinking up such a mad idea.
Your blackwork piece is stunning - well done - and we look forward to seeing what you put on your spoon.
Take care. God bless.

Morti, you are quite the crafter!! First off, I LOVE your craft room! It is well-loved, which makes for a happy crafter!! Your tree is so beautiful!! I love, love your blackwork! It is so beautiful! Not sure what the intention is for this, but whatever it is, I KNOW it will be gorgeous! I am not familiar with the Medicine Spoon Memorial, but you have me intrigued and I will be going to have a look! Happy Wednesday to you and blessings for the rest of your week! :) Felicia, #39

Hi Morti, great that you joined in today for the big 600, but 4 moves during the lifespan of WOYWW... that must be a record. Enjoy the time with Miss B. Helen #1

Oh the tree and the blackwork (bluework?) look lovely. I wondered if you still had your button bouquet. I remember making a frond for it at one of the WOYWW crops.

Such memories we all have of the very special group or mad crafters.

Happy 600th WOYWW!

Lots of fabulous stuff going on, your tree looks simply splendid. I got ours out of the loft today, but by the time I had done some first aid to some components, all I managed to do was assemble it and put the lights on it!
I can decorate it tomorrow.
Happy WOYWW 600 and Stay safe!

Great to see your desk this week, - I'm a sporadic desker too but it's lovely to catch up with everyone on this special anniversary. Your embroidery is beautiful, I love the tile design and the blue and white is a perfect colour for it. The Christmas tree looks lovely too.
Happy 600th Anniversary,

Love the black work so far. Glad your daughter had time to have a break before the Christmas rush. The tree looks great. I have only been joining in with WOYWW for the last 5 years or so, so I am very late yo the party compared to you. Looking forward to Saturday old laptop permitting. Stay safe and happy 600th WOYWW. Lots going on there, Morti. I particularly love your beautiful blackwork! Stunning. I haven't been around for all 500 WOYWWs either but been here for a good number of years now and only missed a few, I think.

Happy WOYWW 600,

Happy 600th WOYWW. Your projects are fabulous, but what is handwriting jewellery? My craft room isn’t big enough to dump anything in and I would not be happy if I couldn’t get in there! Your Christmas tree is beautiful. Angela #42

Morti, your blackwork is beautful and I look forward to seeing how you develop your spoon. It is so important that the witches, goodwives and midwives who were persecuted are remembered.
hope to see you tomorrow,

Hi Morti! It was nice seeing you today and put a face to the name, and also to learn about your blogging history. I didn't realise you were a long-time desker! It was also lovely to see your two doggies - aren't they adorable! You could feature them on your blog more often! Love your Christmas tree - it look so lush! Happy belated #600! xx zsuzsa #34

Sorry Morit, thought I'd called in! Blaim the cat and my new laptop...I CAN'T SEE THE (sorry) keyboard it's silver and has lights...which brings me to your black work, it must be hard to see! (The mistakes well hiden) I was a rubbish sew-er, at school, the teacher allowed me to sew up a little black pony (toy!) 'I bet even you can't make a mess of that,' she said! I did! Happy WOYWW!? Have a great crafting week, (Lyn)) #18

I am totally confused, Morti. On Saturday during the morning section, the screen shot that Zsuzsa showed (https://inkydinkydoodle.blogspot.com/2020/12/woyww-601-post-crop-and-advent-journal.html) during the morning section shows you as Diane, while the afternoon shows you as Morti. I hope that it was just a lag of some sort and it was you in both shots, even though your hair was up in the afternoon session.
